hey daniel, what do you think of the current trend of electro being poplar among the indie/hipster crowd v.s. the rave scene in the mid to late 90's ? any pro's or cons ?

for myself, i was a teenager in the 90's and i had a good time at raves but it was definitely more about the drugs than the music. i have to admit the rave scene was pretty lame sometimes with all the happy hardcore and candy ravers and whatnot. i think now dance music is more about the music itself and just having a good time and dancing to good music.

i actually thought about that quite a bit at our new years gig.. we had a bit of both in our tent with the newer people and some old school 'raver' types. the 'newer' people were dancing and having a good time while the kids that were obviously part of the whole rave culture of yesteryear were on the ground doing weird things with vapo rub (i have pictures). i like that people are getting more into the music nowadays and have left that drug culture behind for the most part.

keep in mind i'm from the drum & bass days.. where we didnt really worry about drugs so much as we did about massive dude-fests with guys standing around arms crossed trying to trainspot all your tracks. at least now people dance and get down.

Look, all I'm saying is, if these big stars didn't want people going through their garbage and saying they're gay, then they shouldn't have tried to express themselves creatively.

yeah i honestly can't remember ever seeing girls at a drum n bass night well besides the lesbians anyway..,

those old school ravers definitely do some weird shit. can you honestly say you had a good time when you were on the floor, sketched out all night and trying to massage people. its kind of creepy actually, almost like zombies

lately i've had a lot of downtime in hotels and airports so i try to keep up an active dialog with people that have questions both here and on myspace. sometimes it's very time consuming to reply to our myspace because we get so many messages but i try to make it a point to get back to everyone.
