i read a few pages back that you tend to double drop your tracks since you used to be a dnb dj. i have a friend who spins mainly jungle and everytime i spin house with him he tries to double drop his tracks...and in my opinion alotta the time there is too much going on. Would you mind giving me some insight into how you pick tracks and EQ your tracks when you double drop?

Also curious about this, I have been trying to master the art of EQing, I always record my mixes and then I go back and listen and it's never quite right. Your mixing style is always so exciting and you are great at making things sound different from the original, what do you do when playing live to tweak out your tracks? The way I generally DJ is have cuepoints in all of my tracks so i can hop around to different elements and change the order. I usually drop the next track at the end of whatever the major breakdown/build is in the previous track or try to mix two breakdowns or builds so that each track drops at the same time, this is where I need to work on my EQing I think. Double dropping refers to dropping the same track on multiple decks right? Or is dropping two tracks at the same time?

I may be wrong about this but picking your tracks is not really scientific you just have to listen to your music and really know it and practice a lot and you will start to get a feel for what sounds good together. That has a lot to do with harmonic mixing and making sure the keys go together so start practicing getting and ear for the keys of tracks, a good way is to use something like mixed in key to analyze your tracks and look for harmonious combos, eventually you will start to develop an ear for it and you won't need to use the system.

hey, why didn't you play the main stage at love fest this year? you were on the schedule but instead they just had this incredibly shitty band in your time slot, it was weird.

You know what I am pretty sure there is some incredibly shitty band that shares the name LA Riots but they go by like L.A. Riots maybe it was them.

i mean, it was a live stage...but is that band even electronica? also on the lovefest website it had a link to the real LA Riots's myspace.. also there were no periods, it was definitely "LA"

I have a question,

how do you break through? With so many producers about does the music speak for itself or is it who you know, when you first started did you give out your music for free or put on your own parties ?

Basically how do you get successful at this thing

ya get me? Cheers in advance=)
