just use your judge of character. i usually just listen people out and if theyre serious enough on helping you out they will act upon it.

youre still young and should try to manage yourself first, that way you get a feel for the way business works.

lot of time management is someone who is your friend first and just wants to get shit rolling for you. just make sure not to let business and friendship interfere!

Hey Laz
I am 15 and have been djing and making music for about two years now. I started djing small house parties and worked my way up to pretty big shows. A lot of people have been trying to convince me to manage me and represent me but I feel like i am being taken advantage because I am only 15. Do you have any tips on how to sort out the bullshit people from the legit people and how you dealt with this when you started out?

speaking of discodust, i really liked that interview they have of you. it was quite interesting to hear your take on the whole hipsters-liking-electronic-music thing.

Thanks, that advice was really helpful. Do you think it would be cool if I sent you some stuff I have been working on and you could give some feedback on it?

Yo Laz,

Sounds like you've got some experience with promoting. I'm working on getting a monthly off the ground right now, got any tips?

klover and venganza i believe were mini moog, hellcab might have been the predatorrrrrr.

but the basslines is all in the eq and compression (for warmth). make sure you allocate enough frequency space for the bassline to be big and not rob from the rest of the track. Also it's good to add some sub bass to give it that extra rumble.

I have one technics 1200 M3D turntable and a stanton sk-one mixer. Besides the other technics turntable of course, what other equipment would you recommend for me to get in order to get the show on the road?

Thanks,
Alexandra

Dearest Alexandra,

It's all a matter of preference really. It sounds to me like you want to go the vinyl route with your turntables, you can also do timecode vinyl with Serato/Traktor Scratch and company. Whichever you may choose, just get yourself a reference monitor so that you can mix along with whatever other track is going on in your headphones.

Besides this, I suggest making sure your set up is comfy as you will be putting a good amount of time playing on it I hope.

Sincerely,
Lazaro Helpanova
