The Justice thing or Batman uses samples? (He does you know. When he's tracking the Joker through the cellphones at the end of the new movie he uses a sample of the joker's voice to "triangulate on his position." So now I don't feel bad about sampling anymore)
The Justice quote was part of a conversation Taylor and I had on getting famous. It's on here somewhere...
I guess we have this gay thing going on where we quote each other in our signatures
It's the equivalent of a homosexual virtual promise ring or something...

Haha it's one I made up.
"The Waves NTJI Noodling to Jazz Improv bundle turns your useless noodling into an expressive jazz opus in the styles of: John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery and many others. Now with dithering and Insta-Groove®"
It was a while back in the Questions for Jesse thread when we were debating how "real" electronic music is. I said there's no plugin that would quantize your mindless solos into sweet jazz lines and then photoshopped that together for fun.
Waves still won't respond to my emails about putting it in to production...

I'm guessing you're a fan of Waves? I'm just starting to get more into mixing and I'm appreciating them more and more. Once I actually get some monitors, I'll be ballin'.

haha great idea

you should check out ueberschall's liquid instruments they have horns, trumpet, and saxaphone sections.

all samples you can move up and down notes, i actually think they've partnered up with melodyne so the editing is pretty smooth.

That sounds schnazzy! I might use it for disco or something lol
I'm so pumped for the new melodyne plug in with Direct Note Access.
It's going to change remixing and sampling sooo much

not sure if you're into pro tools but pt 8 hits end of this month, all new user interface (looks slick) plus they really amped up the midi support AND last but not least a whole slew of plug ins out of the box (like logic pro). they have a team called AIR doing all the plug ins, ive been messing with a lot of the plug ins for the last 2 months man and its quality shit.

Are you fa serious??
I've been waiting for that to drop. I didn't know they had a release date for that...
I've only really tried the new synth a little bit, but the AiR plugins seem pretty cool. I watched a bunch of videos on strike and stuff, when I first got Pro Tools.
Maybe I'll buy an actual nice interface and pay for the software lol
Seriously though... My Fast Track usb is shit

haha oh man i have a fast track somewhere in a drawer, don't worry man we've all been there.

you talking about the hybrid synth? i love that thing. transfuser i tried to mess with but it wasnt something that i dug too much although the videos showed great use of it. Strike is dope my friend (ironically named stryke) who works for them worked on the sample pack and pushed for them to have the classics in there 808, 909 etc so if they havent released the sample library that doesnt have that live feel yet they definitely will soon enough.

Yeah I'm migrating from FL 8 to PT now. My main problem now is just the interface issues and processing power. Plus Pro Tools gets my computer high and eats all my RAM after a while.
I'm thinking of getting an MBox maybe when PT 8 drops... As long as it's on the cheap. I'd need an interface that we can DJ with too. I think we're going midi control (we're building one actually) so it's gonna be internal mixer, with everything coming out one channel, plus headphone cue.
We're looking into building a server too for production and DJing (it's gonna be a 1 or 2 unit rack server, so it'll be portable)
Just need to make some cash monay!

Ps what is your perception of the way your music is accepted across the world? Like how receptive is an audience to tech or house in Berlin or Mexico as compared to somewhere like Montreal?

Yea man i have pt 7.4 running on a dual 2.5 ghz powermac with 3 gigs of ram and i have to restart pro tools after a few hours. Also i go crazy since i got that unlimited track expansion pack. So eventually I have to take a break and start printing all the effects and consolidate tracks so I can get some resources back.

That's sick that you're building midi controller, I gota see a picture of it when it's done.

Yeah we're going the midibox route.
We basically need a bunch of knobs and then buttons to trigger hot cues and loops (I'm loving Traktor Scratch Pro right now)
We know what we want for parts, but we don't have a design yet, or an exact list of like knobs and shit. It should be really cool though once it's done. It's going to be awesome to have a control surface that's laid out exactly how you think and caters to your style of performance.
Right now we're using an old joystick for some stuff Like I mapped a slider to a low pass filter on Deck A and a high pass filter on Deck B so when you sweep it, it cuts bits out of both tracks, so they mix better. It's just bad enough that people think we're checking email with laptop DJing, but now it looks like we're playing Warcraft too
