you were the first big DJ i saw. it was at a Mstrkrft show in Edmonton like 3 years ago.

are there any particular sound effects you use regularly in your sets?

weird question but i'm curious.

at the time, not really.

but on the pioneer djm-800 i use the reverb, delay, color filters, and the roll. Sometimes I'll use the robot effect if i'm looping something on one of the extra cdj's.

since you're online, is there anything that promoters do that is really annoying?

i mean, they promote the show for you, etc, but does it bother you when they go on stage and put their arm around you like they own you or are your best friend?

i'm wondering because i see promoters doing this all the time to DJs and i think it's weird.

yea some promoters are great but a lot are annoying.

annoying promoter would normally start with the flyer. if the flyer sucks and is branded a certain dumb way.

then they expect you to hang out. after a flight i just wanna go to my hotel. the car ride would usually consist of "yea i just booked (insert name here)" and its usually the same acts you hear over and over. kind of like saying "hey i'm automatically slumping you into this category." While we probably listen to that act in the car radio.

after dinner and all that is done they want you to go to the party early to hang out. you get there and theres a cdj or two missing even though your tech rider clearly said the gear you needed. the promoter will say somethign like "yea i saw that on the rider but i didnt think you would actually need it".

the whole dj booth thing... i kick everyone out and its very annoying if anyone ever comes up there with me for two main reasons. there is a lot of electronic gear up there that shouldnt be overly exposed to drunk people. also, i always feel like someone is up there trying to train spot a track i'm playing.

don't even get me started on the drink situation

Shit, man. Sounds like a huge fucken hassle. Doesn't seem like it would be too much to ask for.
"Give me 2 CDJ's, a DJM-800 and stay the fuck out of my booth. And while you're at it, stay out of
my "bubble" too. Besides that, a full bottle of Crown would be nice."

Both parties would be happy. I mean, for Christ's sake, Mariah Carey demands that a red carpet
be put out and that the walkway to be lined with white candles at her hotels. Sounuva...

Who was that? Diddy, wasn't? If I ever get Daft Punk famous, I'd still be so down to earth and say,
"Look, just get me a #3 from the Taco Bell menu and a Mountain Dew... oh, Baja Blast. Also, gimme
this month's Blender magazine.

That reminds me. Hey Lazaro, do you happen to know what kind of demands Daft Punk has whenever they do tour?

I don't see Daft Punk as being huge demanders... especially seeing as they went to such great lengths to "conceal" their identity and actions outside of their shows.

*edit* just realized you might have been talking about the venues... well in that case my guess would be a honkin' light pyramid and thousands of pumped up fans to dance blissfully to their music

Laz the Dreamcast is definitely still for sale. Send me a PM or email me at toddomg@gmail.com and we'll figure it out man!

PS I'm getting the Korg Nano series.. probably the one with the transport functions and then maybe a keyboard one to control Serato. Have heard nothing but good things.

I recently spied this awful girl with a couple of your songs on her myspace.

Do you ever meet some of your fans and just cringe? Has your personal life been affected by your growing notoriety?
