what do you use?

mac or pc?

if you use a Mac you can record into Garageband and turn your trax into AIFF files.
then go into Reason and run them thru one of the samplers

i guess it doesnt matter what program you record into, you could even use Audacity which is free or some similar program. just get your shit recorded and turned into a WAV or something.

well if you have garageband it's pretty simple (AND FREE), if you have no idea what you are doing it is a good for that... reason could maybe seem to overwhelming if you are brand new to it... just make sure you have :
- an interface (a box to plug your shit into )

- a keyboard

- a midi cable if you wanna use midi

- your audio input is set to whatever your interface is and your output is the default output if you are using headphones

don't get frustrated if things aren't going right away, it can be a process to get your shit up and running.

and research the shit on producing, a lot of people just want to recreate certain sounds or do something way over their head, it becomes easier to bring your idea to life if you know the process to get it right.

and have fun of course

i did some searching through this thread, and saw that someone had posted this link 30 pages deep back in june but it seems like it was overlooked.
anyways, its an incredibly well made flash production studio featuring a virtual 808, 909, 303, and a smattering of effects pedals and mixers.

it feels weird that i was one of the first to post about it, if this is something that everyone already knows about and im just taking up forum space, let me know and ill delete it.

Hey guys, what kind of stuff do you want to learn about making electronic music?? Is there any kinds of styles or techniques that you want to understand better? What are you guys playing with recently?

Personally, I've been messing with sidechaining dynamic eqs and stuff to reverb or wet signal. Also learning a lot about transient designers. Gonna figure out how to use my TransX from Waves.
Something I want to get into more is resampling tracks. Like recording a track and then reimporting it and slicing it up.

I'm really interested in learning more about sidechaining as well. What have you been messing with as far as dynamic eqs and what not? do you run reason or pro tools?
