i have a pc, i would call myself a fruity loops veteran.
i make my music on my pc because my vintage iBookG4 only has 30gigs.

is ableton better on pc or mac ?

what is ableton vs fruity loops ?
i hear fruityloops is more of a melody driven program as ableton is more loop/beat based. i heard this from some nobody though.

is fruity loops still respected ?
can i make club essential tunes with fruity loops ?
does anyone know any artist/albums that use fruity loops ?

if i have already gotten half way to being a fruity loops master, should i even both using different programs ? or should i just keep doing what im doing ? what can you do with ableton that you cant with fruityloops.

thanks guys

I have never used fruity loops so I can't really say anything about that or compare it to Live... but I do know Live very well

Ableton is a pretty amazing program (so are Logic and ProTools) they're are different but are all capable of doing some amazing things with audio.

I choose to use Ableton because I know it the best and I feel really really comfortable using it. I can think of something in my head and lay it out inside Ableton and get exactly what I want.

your question about pc vs mac. if you have a mac vs a pc that have the same specs (processor, ram, rom etc) it'll run the same, there might be some differences in performance but non that a human can tell... you'd need to be running performance test etc etc for pc mag purposes... and then there's a lot of variables... most importantly your operating system stability... but on a reformatted mac and a reformatted pc that are both fresh and clean it'll run the same... and it is true that it is much easier to find cracked VSTs and other plug ins for the pc... it is also much easier to find cracked versions of ableton for the pc...

the ableton workflow is the thing that i like the best...

so yeah if you're great at fruity loops that's awesome, if you've mastered and you can make the type of music on it that you want then keep using it but if you feel like you want to know more then yeah get ableton start playing around, it's never a bad thing to know more than one program... master them all...

Of course you can. I wrote an entire dance album in Ableton. It's more powerful than Fruity Loops for sure. But use what you like.

OK, I was fucking around with ableton today, and I liked it. But, my school only has the demo, and I need a product key for the full version. Is there anyway to get one for free? haha, i probably sound like an idiot but I'm pretty clueless, I've been using Garageband for a while.

Well it would be illegal but,

SWIM (someone who isn't me)

this is a good way to avoid self-incrimination.

ie:

SWIM would use Pirate Bay to get a free version of ableton.

These days I use Live, FL and reason. I find that each one is great for something that the others aren't. I love arranging my tracks in Live. I love the synth sounds I can get out of reason and I love making catchy loops and stuff in FL.

I go to my buddies studio/apartment and use his logic/midi keyboard and then bring it over to fruity loops. i dont have my own midi keyboard, so i make alot of melodies just using the piano roll.

do you suggest i rock fruityloops and ableton together?

that would be the best PC set up ?

Its a matter of preferance... I made alot of stuff on fruity loops when i was younger and produced trance. Fruity loops is easily the most user friendly (IMO) and you can do everything (and i mean everything) that FL can do on Ableton Live, plus alot more. I saw your myspace and id say stick with FL and get a program to help broaden your music both technically and imaginatively.
