I feel kind of dumb asking this but could anyone perhaps recognize where the orchestral sample in "Genesis" comes from?

I've been listening to a lot of work by Brahms recently (specifically his work in D minor) and in various recordings I swear it sounds almost exactly the sample(s) in "Genesis."

Just curious.

Yeah there's a bunch of those, a night on disco mountain is that was is called, is also sampled by them but they recreate it. New jack is also a sample at the beginning. There's also a salsa song just like valentine, I heard like once 3 months ago in the radio didn't get the name though.

Hey everyone, there's a lot of great info in these pages and I wanted to say wassup, thanks and WORD! to everyone who has contributed. Yes, over the last 4 days I've read through all 98 pages.

Someone mentioned creating a guide... I don't want to make any definite promises, but over the next couple of weeks I'm going to compile all the information that was pertinent to what I want to achieve. Forums are such a great source of information, but I want to be able to sort through it a bit more logically. My focus is mainly electro production since I've been DJing with Serato on my PC a year and a half already. I'll share whatever I come up with since it's all information gained from this thread.

I've got Technics 1200s, a DJM 400, and Serato Scratch Live for DJing. I've have Allen & Heath XONE XD-53 and a Klipsch 5.1 computer speaker system that I'm using for monitoring. I've scrapped together beginnings to original material and a remix using Ableton Live 7 and after reading this thread I've unlocked a lot of potential, so I'm glad I didn't really circulate my stuff. In the last couple of weeks, I got Reason, FL Studio and was considering getting Cubase for arranging, but it almost sounds like I should try Pro Tools instead. I know it all comes down to preference but I like to notice trends in information since they are usually based on experience.

I just bought the M-Audio Axiom Pro 49 (<link) and recently got it working with Reason and Live. Next is a laptop for Serato since I was previously using my friend's Mac, I'll probably go with an Acer to save some money for now.

I'll be around here more often, cheers...

My guide wouldn't really be Ableton specific, I just thought it would be good to gather the URLs and info that I thought found useful into one doc/post. I'll let you guys know when it's done. An Ableton guide would be awesome, good luck with it.

Nah-Godzilla March is sampled in "Simon Says"

Also I'm fairly sure from the sound of it it's not in D minor (inb4 "you can always change the pitch").
