K i know this is a noob question, but i cant figure it out for the life of me. To all the ableton users: when your making a track in arrangement view, and you can adjust the automated perameters the normal colour of the graph used to represent this is pink. However, sometimes for seemingly no reason at all, the colour of the line will change colour, to like a brown, and suddenly the adjustment of the perameters is no longer capable. Has anyone had this problem happen to them before, and how do you fix it so you can adjust them again? thanks.

it's because you changed something in the session view... hit the red button on top.

I'm trying to decide on a VST to buy, any suggestions? I'm leaning towards Cubase at the moment. And I don't care about price, so don't worry about that.

If you really mean daw, get Logic if you can afford it. If not Cubase is a good second option if your going for a mainstream program.

if you're talking about a DAW, you should just steal Reason or Logic (free downloads are REALLY easy to come by, and I've found some that work perfectly on my macbook). if you're talking about VSTs, any of the native instruments ones are really great, as well as some Arturia ones. You should try to get a proaudiotorrents invite from someone, they literally have thousands of VSTs on there. Of course, there are a lot of good free VSTs too.

If you know of any invites or anyone who's got one I'll take it.

Haha, I meant DAW, my mind must have been abscent. And a friend of mine uses Logic; It's also an option. I haven't heard much about Reason, although Mehdi, Surkin and it's rumoured that SebastiAn use it. Anyone willing to give me a run down?

well, in reason you can't use any vsts except the built-in ones. but that being said, the built-in ones are pretty great and the options are pretty numerous. its also really easy to learn how to use it.

Yea a lot of electro people make most of their music in Reason. The thing to keep in mind is reason is basically just a big ass VST. It can only use its own vsts that are in the program.

However I would get a more general based DAW system where you could rewire Reason into it if needed. I dont have much experience with many types of DAWs, but I have "heard" cubase has a steep learning curve and ableton is a pretty good choice.

I think I'm going to try Logic, seeing as I have a bit of experiance from fooling around with my friends copy. But I think I'll download a demo of Reason as well... Thanks for the help everyone!

FFBP!

Right before the kick, there is this sound that i can only describe as whats written up there. its anywhere from .5 to .05. seconds long, and its killing me trying to figure out how do it.

one example is this breakbot remix of sebastien tellier's ROCHE, found here http://hypem.com/track/961126/Sebastien+Tellier+-+Roche+Breakbot+Remix+ or here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcsPRby0aug

and its probably a noob kick-mixing question, i know!! but i just cant figure it out.. I hear it on most electro tracks really, so i'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction

any help!!!!!
