Hey all, I wanted to start making my own beats with a friend, right now I just dj at parties for fun so I have a macbook , cdj1000's and a djm800, but im planning to get a midi controller, monitor and a midi interface, what prog should we start out with do make the beats? I was thinking ableton, reason or protools?
Also do we need anything else? and im using traktor scratch, anything better than that I should use too?

thanks guys

dude, if you could afford that DJ setup, go straight for the pro tools setup then get your preamps hot rodded by black lion audio

and ableton in my opinion is a necessity for making quick edits/fixes

(COMPLETE NOOB QUESTION)

when transitioning to a new track, what are the different types of ways to bring it in?

i'm just getting sick of looping a line or dropping the bass. even though thats all i know how to do, ha.

how do you only get three free?
they are all rapidshare hosted, I think you can only download a certain amount with rapidshare each day, thats why...

they should all be free, vstclub can't monitor what you have, there are ways around getting rid of rapidshare limits anyway

Question about mixing...

What's the ratio of electronic artists who do their own final mixes to those who don't? Like, obviously MSTRKRFT mix their own tracks...but I just got the Crystal Castles album and homeboy didn't mix most of the songs on it himself. Just curious...I'm just not set-up properly yet and don't have the knowledge to mix my own stuff...will be mixing with a very pro friend of mine. Thoughts?
