hmm, yeah this is similar to what i was doing. i guess it just takes a lot of messing around, eh? i've used your instructions and hammered away and made a few cool pop sounds haha, so thanks!

Yeah man its all about experimenting... Ive got some cool lazery sounds with a saw wave LFO as well... the sine LFO give you more bubbly sound and the saw give you a pew pew sound...

One technique I'm working out now involves 2 layers of lazers, one dry with some overdrive type distortion and some stereo delay and the other layer sent to a big reverb. I then sidechain the reverb send and have the dry lazer as the input to the side chain... its like the Faithless effect... just thought I'd share that... sounds cool.

Pretty good. Sample sorting and searching. Getting orginized, deleting all the stuff I don't need.

Dam, I envy your discipline... sometimes it feels like 70% of producing is auditioning samples.

Anybody know of any tools that could help this along? like a sample browser that has direct control over folders and files structure? Abletons file browser is a bit cumbersome in that regard.

two years ago i spent around three weeks organizing 120 gig of samples now it's gravy. Take the time to sort it out it's totally worth it.

I use Ableton so I just started orginizing sample packs into drum racks (best of Roland, best of Vengeance, etc) and then I just load up these huge drum racks and if I like a sound extract it... it's actually worked out way better than trying to orginize out side of Ableton.

hey all,

i'm having trouble getting this "moving reverb" effect.
here are some examples that you can stream: http://www20.zippyshare.com/v/54533960/file.html
i've been messing with reversing reverbs on reversed sounds playing over the original sample, but no dice. anyone know what i'm talking about? :\

Try reversing the sample. adding reverb. bouncing it. import the reversed reverb sample. then reverse it back.

I think that should work for what you were going for.
hope that helps.

Here is an extremely broad question: Do you guys have any tips for when you feel like you are unable to make good music at a particular point and you lose hope/inspiration? What do you do to help you get going again? (Hopefully at least one person here knows what I am referring to )

In my down time, or when I just don't feel motivated to finish a track, I like to just take a break and listen to my favourite records. Taking a good break from making music, or trying to, helps clear my head as well.
