Todd, I do separate tracks of the same EXS kit like knights suggested. I start with one track just to get the pattern down, then I duplicate it once for each drum, strip down each track to one sound, and EQ/process/pan from there. It's kind of convoluted, but you're still working with MIDI and not resorting to audio.

Have you watched the SFLogicNinja videos on youtube? They are basically required viewing for learning Logic.

Awesome, I asked in another forum and they suggested the same thing so I'm going to play around with it. I really appreciate that guys.

Knights - Black Holes is awesome. I do my stuff under Baby Diamonds, I was actually going to ask you guys to remix one of my tracks. You're doing great stuff. Thanks for the help dude

Oh and I'm going to go check out those youtube vids now.. god I love youtube.

Yes. You can do that in practically any music program and it's very easy.

What do ya'll use to organize your drum samples in Logic/Pro Tools? I'm a diehard simpler in Live kinda guy, with seperated tracks for EVERY indivdual drum hit.. but now I'm attempting to learn Logic and quickly learning I don't know what the fuck to do with drums once I've lost my precious Simpler and Impulse. I'm thinking about just straight up putting them all in as audio tracks.. but working with fills just sounds horrendous without MIDI.

And I really hate iDrum, Drumagog, all of that bullshit. I HAVE to have separated tracks for all of my drum parts. Anyone have a neat solution for this in Logic?

NI Battery

you guys do realize some drum plugs have multi out modes so you can send each hit to a different channel...1 plugin running to 16 channels > 16 plugins running to 16 channels, not to mention its easier to just play a break than having to split it between each drum hit

on an unrelated note i found a fucking goldmine of breaks

if youve got a what.cd acct they have a flac of the ultimate breaks and beats collection

Of course I realize that. Even Drum Racks in ableton can do that. The problem for me is twofold:

1: I do alot of complicated routing with my drum tracks that I can't do with mutli-outs.. even if they let me have seperate effects for each hit it's not the same. I can go into this deeper if anyone cares.

2: It allows me to CLEARLY see where the hi hats come in, where the drum fills start, where the cowbell ends, etc. I can't do that if I just have a single barren midi clip in my project file.

That's the drum section of my current project right now, it's so much easier to be creative this way. And yes that includes drum fills too. I draw everything in with the mouse.. I just hear it in my head and then figure out the midi from there. My keyboards practically decoration at this point.
