Dear admin/mods - issues and concerns
« Thread started on: Mar 6th, 2009, 12:22pm »

How are rules being decided as of yet? Is it you guys that make them up or does the word come from jesse or do you look into the bottom of a hat and god tells you whatsup?

Slinky edit:
Thanks to FISK for raising this concern, I've decided to make this thread somewhere where anyone can come and voice their opinion about the way things are being run here and we can discuss the best way to remedy it.

Just making it up. If you have a problem with one of my or R2's decisions take it up with us or talk to Jesse/Al P.

Basically, all I'm really looking for is any kind of unnecessary flaming/harassment and SPAM.
I've already banned a SPAM account that posted some Adult Dating Services links in the General.
I mean, sure we could have it here in the SPAM section but really, do we need it here considering
Adult Friend Finder is a pretty prevalent pop-up? But yeah, members here trolling this board is
not anything we need here. Everyone in this board is a pretty good group of people.

Also, if you're topic thread is something that has already been discussed, search to see if it has already
been discussed before you start a new one. Times may change and a whole new thread may be started
on the same topic but some of the obvious ones will be taken down. Like when new guys ask a music
production question as a whole new thread. Something like that is unnecessary and I can tell you right now
that if I take your thread down, I'll normally PM the member and I do it with courtesy.

Also, whenever members are just bouncing back and forth about nothing and just having an irrelevant
discussion about some nonsense and random short posts in the Questions For Jesse thread, then that's
another thing I end up looking out for. JFK has already said it himself:

Quote:
just in gereral, if you kids wanna talk about something and not ask questions, go do it in the main section please. i want to always make time to do this but i hate picking through your back and forth about nothing.

j f k

So with that in mind, find some relevance in your posts if you can in that thread at least. If you can answer
a question for some noob member that didn't bother to look for their answer through the search tool, do so.
There are 365 pages worth of questions and answers by JFK and they are still searchable.

If you have any questions, you guys are really welcome to ask me or slinky anytime. I may not be very actively
posting as I'm always just working on some productions but I take a break here every other hour or so just to
see stuff of interests here and there.

As far as rules, we don't officially make any, but just think about what you're doing when you post.
So I'll leave you with this picture as a suggestion for you guys if you have the urge to start a whole new thread.

Merci Hommie,

Basically yes. I disagree with Slinkys unilateral decision to make all user events in one thread. Its stupid to be completely honest. First of all, its not spam. It's events that members of this forum are playing at. This forum is made up by the people that post on it, they have just as much right to have a discussion posted about something that they are playing at as anything else that is posted on here.

Also, if anything the idea of having all user events in one place makes it more difficult to find information. See that thing up at the top of the page, Right under post message, thats the subject heading. That heading right there allows us to organize information into a useful manner. It allows us to quickly browse through the topic lists on the forum index page and decide which posts we want to read.

Moving all events into one thread prevents us from reading through the topic list, we have to go into a separate thread, search through all the posts in that thread, and basically waste our time. Thats all it does, it wastes our time.

Also its pointless, are there so many posts about our events that they need to be collated into one thread? Not at all, In the current events thread that you have put up there is a grand total of 13 posts, including responses. Not exactly something that covers up the entire front page. Even on a slow day.

Now in regards to me "being a baby", how about you stop being a prick. Iv got more of a right to complain about your unilateral actions then you do in conducting them.

I'm all for keeping this place clean, just don't like having my threads shut-down for stupid reasons.

You don't have to post your events in one thread, you can make a thread in spam. It's annoying to have to skim through General to find a thread when it's clogged with all these threads about shows on the other side of the continent. The Spam section is meant for you to promote your shows and whatever other random stuff you want to talk about. And YES people read that section. Posting your shows there helps the forum stay more organized. If I want to find out about a show, I'd check the spam section to see what's going on. It's not there for Viagra ads and WORLD OF WARCRAFT GOLD kinds of posts.

Its about a show im playing at, asking if anyone wants to come down to. I'm not promoting it.

The reason i post it in here is not to get more people down, i get paid either way. Simply iv been asked by allot of people on this forum when i would be playing over this side of the pond and i would really like to meet some of them in person.

The events i promote, i put in the other section. As thats advertising thus i can understand it being spam. Me posting here was not spam, rather a invitation.

Maybe a thread in spam with a link to the thread in What's On Your Mind?
I know it's not like spam per se, but that's a good section for shows. Like I explained before, a thread in general for each show people are doing eventually builds up.

I understand where your coming from, but i still do not feel that the amount of posts that would be generated if its exclusively for members of this forum who are playing would be so great that it would make the site look messy.

And thats not the main thing that bugs me, its simply that my thread was shut down due to a rule created by someone other then the site owners or by representing the wishes of the collective forum members. Slinky is here not to make rules but to enforce them. The rules are to be made by the owners of this forum or by the members that make it up. Slinky is not better then any of us and should not be able to singlehandedly decide to shutdown our threads if they do not break the rules created by the owners or by the members.

I was going to post a big she-bang, but naw this is funny.

It's like FoG part 2.

Alright... Slinky sucks sometimes (... I think he's far too bitter about not liking Fist of God and it has translated into his posting lately) , but I agree with his idea to put all of the show stuff into one thread in general, and you can make another thread in SPAM if you want.

Actually, I think it's a good idea to have a thread posted in the SPAM section
because it's meant as to Advertise there... You guys probably have the idea of
SPAM being all those ads that pop-up at foreign websites but it's a section that
is still looked into... The best thing about that section is that your thread will
always be on the first page. Always because it's low traffic in thread posting
but not so much in view counts. That section is in the MSTRKRFT forum for a
reason and it's not being used as it should be when there's threads starting up
in the General. If you start a thread in there, count that it'll stay on the front page
and yes people do look there all the time...

isn't there a thread 'Shows you are playing' in General. Sorry if your post got deleted but it seems like 'shows you are playing' was set up a long time ago. Slinky and R2RO delete stuff that is a repeat which is what your post might of been. Lately, it sems like the General section has a million posts. Every time I go to it, there are like 5 new threads and the Canabis thread keeps coming back up..
