Awesome thread guys. I decided to sticky it because unless people bring up their concerns we'll never know what people are thinking.

Basically my decision to make the "shows your playing" thread was that this is not a local board for one or two cities. This is a global thread where there are a handful of people from each city. Unfortunately show threads don't really work in boards like that.

Luckily we have the SPAM section where basically anything goes.
That way the general board doesn't get clogged up with show threads and we don't get people registering just to advertise their threads. I love to hear about shows people are playing and what's going on, who's opening for who and all that stuff.

Anyway, any decision that I make is just based on what I think is best for the board. If I'm wrong in my decision and someone doesn't like it, this can be a great place for people to come and discuss that. FISK is the first person to complain about putting all the "shows you're playing" in one thread in the general section. Nothing in this thread convinced me that the community thinks otherwise but I'd be more than happy to hear other people's opinions.

I'm sorry that laserbeat hasn't felt that I've been carrying my weight as a mod but I can only work with what I've got and if no one tells me that they don't like what's going on, there's no way that I can change.

Everything I do here is for the community and I don't expect to be treated any differently because of the number of stars under my name or my post count.

Just enjoy yourself people and try not to take everything personally.

Big smiles.

Today was my birthday and it was all around great! Including this little thing!

Shit mate, now i feel like a arse. Happy Birthday.

I was thinking about this throughout the day and i do understand your point. Its not so much the issue at hand that pisses me off, simply that manner in which decisions are made in the administration of this site.

Perhaps in the future we can vote on new rules as they come to pass. In this manner any rule that goes through would be the expressed opinion of the majority of members. It seems like a more democratic process.

Anyways happy birthday mate, wish you the best.

Fisk, I completely agree with you about the show thing. This board is TINY and simply put, there's not alot of people who post here! So if everyone who DJs posted a new thread about their shows I really, truly don't think it would be considered "cluttered". If it's not broken, DON'T FIX IT.

And Slinky, I REALLY like you as a person. I could see myself being friends with you outside of this board. But I don't like your moderation style simply because you're very opinionated like I am, and you let it come out while doing moderator related jobs. Not a good mix, period. You're not as unbiased and agreeable as R2 is. I hope you understand that I'm attacking your ability to moderate a small sized message board, and not you as a person. Because I like you, and I like opinionated people, but you don't have the best personality type for the job. Word, homie?

I haven't really seen Slinky abuse his mod powers in a negative way, someone tell me if posts have been disappearing for no reason... I haven't noticed it.

I don't know if you guys have been on other forums but there are some damn bad mods out there, slinky isn't one of them.

Keep up the good mod work Slinky.

*edit*
Although I wouldn't mind if you or R2RO got a bit more harsh in the JFK thread... not so much the repeated questions, but the pointless banter between some people.

slinky:

I agree with your decision to relegate all show threads into one thread.

At the same time I would have made an exception for Fisk's thread, knowing his situation (not usually in Canada and people had asked in the past when he'd be here).

Anyway, apart from all that:

I feel that as a moderator, you shouldn't be such a prick. It's one thing to be yourself, but it's another to be rude or harsh over and over. I've never been fond of your act since I joined this board, but I'm very cool with everyone else over here.

I stress the line "as a moderator". Because as a moderator, you have more responsibilities than a regular poster and shouldn't encourage such shit behavior on this forum.

Thank you for keeping it civil in this thread at least.

Yeah but my personality doesn't affect the way that I moderate the board at all. I don't think that I should post differently in threads just because of the stars under my name unless you're suggesting that I start another account to moderate or post with so that my opinions are separated from my moderation.

And as for making an exception, it's tough because who's going to start to decide who's gets an exception or not. I have 0 problems with FISK and have always been supportive of him and everyone else here so I hope that no one thinks that I'm picking him out and making an example of him. The "shows your playing" thread was an idea that I came up with to try, no one complained (to me personally or on the board) so I though that it was working. This is the firs time that an issue has been made of it.

Yeah, I totally understand where you're coming from. It's not right to not be yourself. Doesn't matter what your status is. We're in 100% agreement there. I think where we differ is, I consider your attitude or whatever you want to call it part of your moderation.

It really is a grey area to me, and that's why I've never brought this up until I saw this thread, I figured it'd be appropriate.

I'm glad that I was able to bring it up, and I'll leave it at that. Thanks and happy birthday.

^Yeah that's what I was saying earlier. You guys aren't pissed about his moderating, you're pissed about his normal posts. So there's no point in bringing the moderator shit into it. If you don't like someone on the forum, then that sucks. But it just so happens that a lot of people do like him, and he also happens to be a moderator, which I think he does a good job at.

For sure, and so far I haven't noticed anything wrong with your actual moderation of this board.

If by my "moderation" you mean editing/moving/deleting posts please bring up issues as they occur so that I can change my style so that more people are happy with the way things are run around here.

I try not to be a prick to people that don't deserve it.

edit: this post should be one higher. ha
