Thanks a lot for telling me about drums! Please tell me how do you using an equalizer? For example your Montreal Dreams or From Monument to Masses remix. Which frequences do you cut (equalize) from your synthesizers to make it sound clean?

I mean I mix with a bit higher frequencies to give it that raspy vibe. Then to keep the low end, i tweak the tone knobs on the actual distortion itself. this is why in the montreal dreams' drop, the bass level changes throughout that section, i am just tweaking with different amounts of presence of the distortion (similiar how if you open a frequency filter you are going to sacrifice low-end).

Felix you should write a blog post where you describe how you use Ableton to DJ.

Do you edit all your songs, do you have samples you pop in here and there? Do you do live mashups? What effects do you use? How is it set up? Do you do it on the fly? Or do you have different saved sets?

I just thought I would ask, since I use Ableton myself, I feel a bit handicapped compared to someone that can just bust out a CD and beat match it on the fly and play it with CDJs or TTs. Do you feel like that your disadvantaged compared to DJs with serato? I always make sure I take apart the song, loop the intros and ends, or make it shorter, so I can pull it out of the browser and play the parts that I want to.

I personally love Ableton, but sometimes the wrap markers on certain non dance songs will pretty much screw up the speed, of certain sections of the song, that change tempo....and I get frustrated.

How do you deal with the eqing also? I hate it. I can't wait till Ableton 8 comes out. Hopefully, MAYBE with Max for Live, I can make certain sets where the EQing and and certain other DJ friendly and connect it to Traktor.

Also have you heard of controllerism?
I really wanna try and kinda rework Moldovers setup
