have you used record at all yet? wondering if it's worth getting? looks pretty rad, maybe you would have to slave to pro tools for audio?

I think it's just an Ableton/Reason problem. I've read about lot's of people having it actually. I updated to the latest version of Ableton, updated Reason to 4.01. I have the latest soundcard drivers and have one of best home studio cards so not sure what the problem is.

I'm just gonna synthesize the bass in predator or zebra but still kinda sucks since i do like reason a lot...

The solution is to write your MIDI in ableton, not reason, that way you can set a negative delay value on the ableton MIDI track. To figure out what that number is, record a drum part playing one bar of straight quarter or eighth notes in ReDrum but with the audio being recorded in ableton, then open it up and see at what millisecond the first hit starts at, then set all of your MIDI tracks to a negative value of that number. For me, it's -175. ta daaaa!

When doing your final bounce, I'd recommend bouncing all of the parts you made in Reason one by one and then importing the audio into Ableton.. just cus even if your off by only a few milliseconds that can actually make a big difference in your sound. Especially if it's drum parts or a percussive/arpeggiated type synth.

Thank you! I'm notoriously bad at hearing things when I'm performing. But glad you enjoyed it!

here's the NLLR one:
http://fairtilizer.com/track/felixcartalnllrmix

i've got two others floating around somewhere on the net.
one called MIXTAPE #2 (I'm not sure why it's number 2, I don't recall ever doing a #1) and there's a european promo mix I did recently that's about 45mins long.

i'm sure google can sort it out for you!

I gonna apolgise in advance if any of these questions are extremely stupid or naive but i have really no knowledge n wondered if felix or even anyone else on this board to help me out cause you all seem quite knowledgable.

i first wanted to ask is that you previosuly said that you use reason to create all ur tracks in. wat does this involve ? a keyboard or do you use a mouse and mess wit hdifferent samples or enter in different notes ? ive been playing bass guitar for a couple of years n only really started gettin into electronic (if even you call it that im nto sure) over the last few months kind of natural progression through all the different artists and as i love jammin on the bass im kinda intrigued on how you go about makin ur own tunes as id like to start myself in the future

next is to do with mixing. i believe the program you metnioned was abelton previosuly ? im not sure anyway my question is what equipment would you need to go about startin to mix songs ?

sorry again guys on my complete non existent knowledge but any replies are gretly appreciated !

This is what Felix Cartal's setup as been in the past:

Not sure if he's made many changes to it since but I'm pretty sure he's working on making a studio in Vancouver if its not already done?

I suggest you go to http://www.felixcartal.com/ and check out the in-depth section to see how he builds songs.

For mixing in ableton I suggest you scour youtube.com and watch all the tutorials you can. Felix Cartal uses a UC-33 which is a midi controller with 24 knobs, 9 sliders, and a handful of buttons. I don't think Felix has gone through how he's assigned the controls but that would be pretty interesting.

Also, about 50% of people that join this board start with posts like this so if you search through here a bit you'll find a lot more answers.

Oh shit... So many questions. You are seriously a motivating force to me right now.

Anyways... For Skeleton, what software did you use to get 'skeleton' vocal clip? Or is it a sample? I actually find myself thinking about this alot. Haha.

Also, for drum kits, what do you reccomend? I'm at a stand still right now, haven't really found anything I like too much.

Thanks!
