used some drum samples that i've lifted and gotten from friends. all the synths i make myself usually, pretty basic stuff, just using sawtooth wavs for the most part!

Felix, can we talk about your AKG's a bit? i was wondering if you mix on them because they REALLY have a flat frequency response, or is it cus you're just so used to them and know them like the back of your hand? Or is it a combination of the two?

I'm thinking of picking up a pair cus I live with five other dudes and I can't always mix on my monitors in the middle of the night!

a bit of both i think! barely any bass boost on them and just got adjusted to them! i actually really grew into them when i lived in Glasgow in '07 since i shorted out my speakers with the wrong voltage converter. so didn't have too much of another option!

Are you trained on piano or did you just kind of pick it up?

Hi, Felix! Recommend me some drum libraries please! And 1 question about your kicks and snares: do you compose it from some layers or its 1 sample?

felix, can you explain how you do sidechaining on reason? i've made a few songs where either the bass drum takes over and the synth is to soft or visa virsa.

also, do you just export your song and its finished? or do you run it through another daw (protools, logic) to master it?

thanks! that blog on your website helped a lot.

the great majority of his stuff gets exported right out of reason. there are a few remixes where he's ran stuff through protools for vocal work though. just read back a few pages in here, there's not that many, i believe he's also answered the question on his website.

kickdrum is always just one for the most part, unless one is more clicky and doesnt have too much bass- snares i double up a lot, one with more reverb, or sometimes claps + snares together.

drum libraries i've just gotten from friends who have lots of samples! or i've sampled them from tracks i like

Thanks a lot for telling me about drums! Please tell me how do you using an equalizer? For example your Montreal Dreams or From Monument to Masses remix. Which frequences do you cut (equalize) from your synthesizers to make it sound clean?

^There's no EQ template for every track. Each mix is a custom job. It depends on the frequencies in the instruments themselves.

If you look up the theory behind EQ and the impact of certain frequencies on certain instruments, you'll better understand how to change the sound of something using equalization.

Here's a few links to get you started:
