Hey Felix, could you give us a bit of an insight into what you use to make your tracks and/or remixes?

Thanks man.

My setup is fairly basic. I use Reason as my main instrument, writing some tracks completely alone with it, and others i run Reason as an instrument through ProTools, but for the most part, Reason is supplying the majority of the sounds you hear in my tracks.

I have an Mbox mini2 to power Protools, and write all my automation by hand (no midi controllers).

For my live setup I use ableton with a UC-33 Evolution controller.

Hopefully this answers your question!

What's the most ridiculous thing you've seen while playing a show? Good or bad.

EDIT: Just checked your myspace pictures.... I think I'm good on that question.

this is what i want to do. ive been talking to people and their saying no get cdj's, serato, whatever. How do you justify such a simple setup? how can i tell these people, this is good, without saying "well im broke and i just wanna mix"?

You should use what works best for you. I took a lot of heat when I started out on ableton from local DJ's and people i knew, but you just need to explain that that's the way you WANT to mix.

There are lots of other DJ's who use ableton as well that are phenomenal with it... Surkin, Para One...

Hope this helps.

hey Felix,

Do you ever use any outboard gear? I could swear I've heard a Dave smith sound or two in a few of your tracks!

thanks,

this might be a dumb question but here it goes.

when you're djing with ableton and a controller, what do you use as an audio output? is it just the headphone jack on your laptop?
